Diogo Dalot has emerged on the radar of Milan over a potential move next year. The Man United right-back is also a target for Barcelona. But Man United want to secure his long-term future and will first trigger his one-year contract option.
Portugal international joined the Red Devils from Porto over four years ago, with his stock being considerably high for a teenager. But Dalot took some time to establish a foothold in the first-team squad at Man United. And Diogo has done well to make the defender berth his own since returning from a loan stint with the Rossoneri.
The 23-year-old defender is now the first-choice right-back for the Red Devils and is enjoying a solid 2022/23 season. The Portuguese defender has one goal and two assists in 18 games across all tournaments. But the Portuguese is in the final year of his Man United deal, which has alerted Barcelona and Milan.
The Rossoneri had the former Porto defender on their books in the 2019/20 campaign. And amid uncertainties surrounding Barcelona loanee Sergino Dest, Milan might have to enter the market for a right-back. But signing Diogo might not be possible, with the Red Devils looking to extend his contract.
Man United will first extend Dalot’s deal by a year to protect his value. In addition, the 23-year-old defender has no interest in joining Barcelona or any other club as he wants to succeed at Man United.
