Man United keep a close eye on €60m-rated Italy international

Man United are pondering a move for Inter Milan player Alessandro Bastoni, who is also on the radar of Tottenham. The Red Devils will certainly be bringing in a centre-back as their transition phase is still building up. The Nerazzurri snatched Italy international from the grasp of Parma in 2019, and the player has held the fort with sheer precision.

Bastoni is also regarded as the ideal successor to Bonucci. And with Italy not qualifying for the 2022 FIFA World Cup, he will have a seamless transition to the national team as it seems. Italy is known as the land of defenders, and Alessandro is carrying the legacy forward.

And the 23-year-old player has attracted a lot of attention with his defensive antics. Man United brought in Lisandro Martinez from Ajax, as Maguire’s shaky form led to a big question mark over future plans. Varane suffered an injury in the match with Chelsea, which is threatening to derail Man United’s momentum.

And to avoid further risk, the Red Devils want an additional pair of feet in the squad. Man United’s history with Italian footballers has not been memorable, as players like Darmian failed to keep up with the nature of the PL.

But the Italian centre-back could break the hoodoo as he has the qualities to compete in the English top flight. Inter Milan’s financial condition is under severe threat, and they might need to offload some of the footballers to get into the safe zone.
