Man United enter the battle for €40m-rated Spain international

Barcelona are plotting a shock move to sign Real Madrid forward Marco Asensio but they will face contest from Man United. Marco was one of the most highly-rated teenagers in Europe at Real Madrid a few years ago. Regular injuries have halted his progress and Asensio has struggled to cement a regular place in Los Blancos of late.

With his deal expiring next summer, speculation surrounding his future has emerged, and United have reportedly shown an interest in bringing him to the PL. Barcelona are now plotting a move to add Spain international.

Moving from Real Madrid to Barcelona looks unlikely due to the rivalry they have in Spain, but if the Spanish winger refuses to sign a new deal, he will be free to join whatever club he wishes.

Not tieing down the Spaniard to a new contract wouldn’t be a smart move for Los Blancos, as the attacker still holds plenty of value and allowing him to leave on a free transfer wouldn’t make sense on the business side. The Red Devils are considering making a formal offer of more than £25.3m for the 26-year-old attacker.

Man United have signed four footballers so far this transfer window, headlined by Brazilian midfielder Casemiro, who joined the club in a £70m deal from Madrid. Marco is now looking to follow his former team-mate out of the door in the search for first-team minutes and Man United could be a potential destination.
