Man United eager to sign 30-year-old Colombian right-back


Man United are preparing to offer a short-term deal to Santiago Arias as they look to add a new defender to provide competition for Diogo Dalot, according to reports. The summer transfer window closed on September 1. However, with Colombia international a free agent, Erik ten Hag could swoop for the footballer.

The Red Devils have seen Dalot enjoy a positive start to the season, with Diogo shining since the Dutch manager’s appointment. Yet with Wan-Bissaka and Williams not deemed good enough, Man United could still swoop for a new right-back.

Santiago is currently a free agent after his Atletico Madrid deal expired. As a footballer without a contract, Arias’ able to join any club and any point in the year. And the Red Devils are planning to offer the 30-year-old defender a short-term deal as they look to bring him to Man United.

Should the Colombian defender now join the Red Devils, he’ll become the seventh signing of the Erik ten hag era in the short time since the Dutch tactician’s appointment. Tyrell Malacia was the first, with the Dutch defender joining from Feyenoord having previously looked ready to move to Lyon.
