Liverpool in the hunt for €25m-rated South American midfielder

Liverpool are looking to add Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo in 2023. Ecuador international has had an excellent start to the campaign for the Seagulls, slotting in as a replacement for Bissouma with ease.

Caicedo was involved in the Brighton first-team last year but struggled to cement a regular place in the side, but this campaign, the midfielder has played a pivotal role in their early success. The Merseyside club are set to make a move for Moises in 2023.

With their current crop of midfielders reaching the latter stages of their career, bringing in a midfielder such as the Ecuadorian, who is still just 21 years old, could solve their midfield problem in the long term. The likes of Carvalho and Elliot have been playing in the German manager’s midfield three at times.

However, the aforementioned duo do lack in defensive nous and experience, whereas the 20-year-old midfielder has played in a deeper role at times. The report claims that the Reds will face competition from Chelsea, with Graham Potter looking to reunite with his former footballer.

The Ecuadorian midfielder, who can play as a central midfielder as well as in a holding midfield role, has played only 14 times in the PL to date. He was brought to Brighton by Potter in February 2021 for a reported £4.5m fee after he left Independiente. The South American midfielder’s deal at Brighton is ready to run until June 2025.
