Barcelona have expressed interest in signing Jorginho from Chelsea but Graham Potter could intervene to keep the footballer at the London club. The Catalan giants are keeping tabs on Italy international’s deal situation with a view of signing him during the winter transfer window.
The 30-year-old midfielder is closing in on 200 games for the Blues, having arrived in the PL from Napoli in 2018. The Italian midfielder has won the Champions League and Europa League during his spell at the London club and continues to be a crucial figure of the squad in Chelsea.
But the Italian has entered the final year of his deal and the Blaugrana could agree on a pre-contract with the player in winter and sign him on a free transfer. It is claimed that Jorginho is viewed as a potential replacement for Nou Camp hero Busquets, who has played 685 games for La Liga giants since 2008.
The former Napoli midfielder played 90 minutes of Graham Potter’s first game in charge of the Blues as the London giants drew 1-1 with RB Salzburg in the UCL. It stays to be seen whether Graham Potter views Jorginho as one of his influential footballers going forward.
If so, the ex-Brighton boss may put pressure on the Blues to hand him a new contract and block a move to Barcelona, who signed Christensen and Alonso from the London giants over the summer. Jorginho became the first Chelsea footballer to speak out following Thomas Tuchel’s sacking and Graham Potter’s arrival at London club.
