Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal were linked with Chelsea star N’Golo Kante in the summer transfer window, and there is an opportunity that the Gunners could be able to add the midfielder in 2023. The Gunners were considering ‘a shock approach’ for France international.
Kante is out of contract at Chelsea at the end of the campaign. An agreement between the Blues and N’Golo over a new contract has yet to be reached. The 31-year-old midfielder has yet to accept the Blues’ terms of a new contract. The Blues made a verbal offer to Kante in August to renew his deal for two years, with the option of adding a third.
However, according to the report, N’Golo is ‘presently unwilling to accept this and would be looking for a greater duration’. The report has added that the French midfielder is very popular at Stamford Bridge and would be ‘ready to finish his career’ at the former PL and UCL winners, but he wants better terms.
If the Blues do not improve their terms, then the Frenchman could decide to leave Chelsea on a free transfer next summer. Now, of course, the Gunners do have a very good squad, but if the opportunity to snap up the former Leicester City midfielder on a free transfer comes up, then we think that they will take it.
Kante has been a pivotal part of the midfield for Chelsea since joining from Leicester City, winning a Premier League, Champions League, Europa League and FA Cup.
